In short
To apply for PMMVY yourself, open the official portal pmmvy.wcd.gov.in, click Login, choose Citizen Login, enter your mobile number and the OTP, then fill in Beneficiary Registration. Your Anganwadi worker or ASHA can also apply for you. To check progress, use Track Status with your beneficiary ID or registered mobile number and an OTP.
Two official ways to apply
- Ask your Anganwadi worker or ASHA. The ministry says the nearest Anganwadi worker or ASHA "can fill the form online for an eligible woman". She uses the portal or the field app, can follow your application and helps with problems. This is the simplest route if you are unsure.
- Apply yourself on pmmvy.wcd.gov.in, through the Citizen Login. Self-registration has been open across the country since PMMVY 2.0.
Mamavela is not the PMMVY portal and cannot see your application. The only official site is pmmvy.wcd.gov.in. Applying is free: never pay anyone to register you and never share your OTP.
Before you start: what to keep ready
The portal lists the documents: "Aadhaar card, Aadhaar mapped bank/post office account details, mobile number, eligibility proof, MCP/RCHI card, LMP date, ANC date, child birth certificate, child immunization details".
Step 1: create your Citizen Login
The ministry's citizen manual shows these screens:
- Open pmmvy.wcd.gov.in and click Login at the top of the page.
- Select Citizen Login. The other option, "PMMVY", is for officials and field workers.
- Enter your 10-digit mobile number and click Verify.
- The first time, enter your name and your relationship with the beneficiary: Self, Spouse, Mother, Mother-in-law, Father, Father-in-law or Others. A family member can create the login for you.
- Enter the OTP received by SMS, type the captcha, click Validate.
- A message confirms the account has been created and asks you to log in again.
Step 2: fill in Beneficiary Registration
Once logged in, the left menu shows Data Entry with five choices: Beneficiary Registration, Update Childbirth and Immunization Details, Update Migration Details, Update Account Details and Track Application Status. Click Beneficiary Registration.
| Section | What the form asks |
|---|---|
| Personal profile | Employee of Central Government, State Government or PSU (yes or no); applying for first child or second girl child; number of living children; Aadhaar yes or no; name as in Aadhaar; Aadhaar number; date of birth, age, category, mobile number |
| Eligibility proof | Document type, document number, file upload |
| Important dates | MCTS/RCH ID, MCP card registration date, LMP date, ANC date, whether the child is born and the date of birth |
| Present address | Rural or urban, address, state, district, block, village, PIN code |
| Account details | Bank or post office, IFSC, branch, bank name, account number |
Click Submit, take a screenshot of the confirmation and write down your beneficiary ID.
Step 3: after your baby is born
Log in again and open Update Childbirth and Immunization Details once the birth is registered and your baby has completed the first cycle of vaccines (14 weeks). For a first child this releases the second instalment; for a second girl child, the single instalment. The amounts and conditions are on our PMMVY eligibility page.
Moved to another district or state? Use Update Migration Details. New bank account? Use Update Account Details.
Step 4: check your status
- Without logging in: on the home page click Track Status. Enter your beneficiary ID or registered mobile number, the captcha and the OTP. The page shows your name, state, district, block, village or ward, Anganwadi and your application and payment status.
- Logged in: click Track Application Status. Your "Self Beneficiary List" appears with a Track Status button for each application.
The ministry explains what happens next: "After filling of online application form and approval of block level officer the fund will be directly credited to the Aadhaar based bank account of the beneficiary through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT)."
When something goes wrong
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| No OTP | Check the number and signal, wait a few minutes, try again |
| Name mismatch | The form warns: "Name as in Aadhaar and name of account holder should be same." Correct the name at the bank or through an Aadhaar update first |
| Account not Aadhaar-mapped | Visit your bank or post office to enable Aadhaar-based payment |
| RCH ID unknown | It is on your MCP card; otherwise ask your ANM or ASHA |
| Approved but not paid | Check the account is active and DBT-enabled, then ask your Anganwadi worker |
| Anything else | Lodge a grievance from the home page, call 1515 (9 am to 6 pm) or write to pmmvy-mwcd@gov.in |
Deadlines worth knowing
- You can register up to 270 days after childbirth.
- The first instalment needs registration and at least two antenatal check-ups, preferably within six months from your LMP.
- The scheme is not implemented in Telangana and Odisha, which run their own maternity benefit schemes.
On 30 September 2026 the portal reported 5.19 crore women enrolled and 4.42 crore paid.
