In short
Enter the first day of your last period or your due date and the calendar lists every pregnancy week from 4 to 42 with its dates, the start of each trimester and the usual appointments. In England the NHS offers at least 10 antenatal appointments for a first baby, with scans at 11 to 14 and 18 to 21 weeks.
The appointments in the calendar
The calendar marks the schedule the NHS describes for a first pregnancy in England. In later pregnancies there are at least 7 appointments; in the US and elsewhere, your provider sets the calendar with you.
| Weeks | What happens (NHS) |
|---|---|
| 8 to 12 | Booking appointment with a midwife, about an hour |
| 11 to 14 | Dating scan |
| 16 | Midwife appointment |
| 18 to 21 | 20-week screening scan |
| 25 | Midwife appointment (first baby) |
| 28, 34, 36, 38, 40, 41 | Midwife appointments |
| 31 | Midwife appointment (first baby) |
Term, in ACOG's words
From 37 weeks, a baby is early term; from 39 weeks, full term; from 41 weeks, late term; from 42 weeks, post-term. Your maternity team will talk with you about a plan if you go past your due date.
Good to know
Print the table, or save the page: the calendar is recalculated each time you open it, nothing is stored.
